Urushi Botanical Candles Set (with candle holder)
Urushi is known as lacquer but it also refers to the tree's name, lacquer tree. Urushi Botanical candles are made with wax taken from the fruit of locally grown Urushi trees in the Noto region in Ishikawa prefecture where is known as the home for the well-known lacquerware crafts wajima-nuri. The fruit of the urushi trees are harvested only in small quantities in autumn every year.
The wick is made by wrapping a dried reed around a washi paper cylinder, which draws air up and creates a large and luminous flame with minimal smoke. These Japanese traditional candles are called wa-rousoku and they are handcrafted using traditional techniques by skilled craftsmen - there are only a handful of craftsmen for these precious works left today in Japan.
This listing is for a Urushi Botanical candles set with 4 urushi candles + 1 cast iron candle stand. There is also a set with a brass duck candle snuffer (see listing here).
Each set comes with a leaflet in English and packaged in paper lidded box ready and perfect to be gifted.
Candle snuffer and candle stand (small) are also available individually if you would like more than included in these sets.
Each urushi candle burns for approximately 50 minutes.

Return Policy
Returns Policy
We will only provide a refund in the event of damaged or defective items that we cannot replace. If you wish to return or exchange an item you must first contact us within 7 days of arrival by email at hello [at] uguisustore.com
Pre-ordered or Backordered items, sale or discounted items can not be returned.
We will not be able to accept return or exchange of items if contacted after 7 days of arrival, so please make sure to open the package and check the contents as soon as the package arrives.
All customers are responsible for shipping costs as well as duties on all returned items. We can not refund shipping if the package has already been shipped.
When the package for your order gets returned to us after no re-delivery is arranged when you needed to, we can resend you the package but you will need to pay for the postage again. If you choose to cancel the items, we can refund the amount for the purchased items but not the postage as it has already been shipped and is totally non-refundable.
