First introduced at Uguisu in 2016, the beloved IFUJI Wooden Oval Boxes are back!

These exquisite boxes are crafted by Masashi Ifuji, the artisan behind the renowned woodcraft studio IFUJI. Each box is meticulously handmade using original templates and time-honored techniques passed down from the Shakers of 19th-century colonial America.

Made in the traditional way, the wood is boiled, shaped, and dried in molds for two days to ensure durability and unique character. Originally used by the Shakers for storing sewing tools, quilting supplies, and dry foods, these versatile boxes now serve countless purposes.

The exteriors are beautifully finished with a flaxseed oil-based coating and beeswax for protection and shine, while the interiors remain natural to highlight the organic beauty of the wood.

Exteriors are finished with flaxseed oil based coating and bees wax, while insides are unfinished.

To maintain, gently rub the box with soft dry cloth to get the beautiful shine. Keep out of direct sunlight.

ABOUT THE MAKER
IFUJI is a woodcraft tablewares and homewares brand and studio founded by a Japanese designer and craftsman Masashi Ifuji in Matsumoto in Nagao prefecture.
Mr Ifuji started making these classic oval boxes (or pantry boxes) in 2005 using the original templates and traditional techniques used by The Shakers which they had used since the 19th century. His boxes are crafted the traditional way, by boiling the wood, shaping it, and allowing it to dry in a mold for two days. IFUJI's boxes are all made by hand, ensuring their unique characteristics.

Return Policy

Returns Policy

We will only provide a refund in the event of damaged or defective items that we cannot replace. If you wish to return or exchange an item you must first contact us within 7 days of arrival by email at hello [at] uguisustore.com

Pre-ordered or Backordered items, sale or discounted items can not be returned.

We will not be able to accept return or exchange of items if contacted after 7 days of arrival, so please make sure to open the package and check the contents as soon as the package arrives.

All customers are responsible for shipping costs as well as duties on all returned items. We can not refund shipping if the package has already been shipped.

When the package for your order gets returned to us after no re-delivery is arranged when you needed to, we can resend you the package but you will need to pay for the postage again. If you choose to cancel the items, we can refund the amount for the purchased items but not the postage as it has already been shipped and is totally non-refundable.
