Wooden Wine Cooler

This wooden wine cooler is handcrafted by artisans in Japan using Kiso Sawara (Japanese Cypress from Kiso Region) with a simple design with two lines of copper band. You can fill the bucket with ice to cool your favourite bottled drink whether it is wine, champagne or sake. Since wood works as a natural insulator, it slows for the ice cubes to melt and cools the bottled drink well while avoiding making your hands too cold when you touch the bucket.

The material wood sawara (Japanese cypress) from the Kiso region, like the hinoki cypress it is very durable and water resistant, however sawara is not as strongly fragrant as Hinoki so it is more ideal for use in the dining and drinking scenes. 

Although sawara wood is durable, the wine cooler needs to be used with special care and when it is treated with good care the wine cooler will last a long time. Before use, fill the wine cooler with water and let the wood absorb water really well so that the sawara wood swells and will have higher density. This will prevent the wood from leaking water and helps getting water drops on the surface.
