Hamadagama

Founded in 1930 by renowned ceramic artist Shoji Hamada, one of Japan’s first Living National Treasures and a leading figure in the Mingei folk craft movement, Hamadagama is a pottery studio in Mashiko, Japan, with a history spanning three generations.

Today, the tradition continues with his grandson, Tomoo Hamada, who works alongside his daughter Chiharu and a team of artisans. Together, they carry forward Shoji’s materials, techniques, and distinctive style of pottery, while bringing their own creative expressions to the tradition.
