The tiny komenuka rōsoku candles come in red and white. The charming illustration of a cat chasing a mouse on the box has a traditional meaning: because Japanese candles are made with natural wax that attracts mice, candle makers kept cats in their workshops to protect their precious materials. Over time, the cat became a symbol of natural, plant-based candle making.

Each small candle burns for about 15 minutes, making them ideal for a short meditation session, a quiet moment of relaxation, or a refreshing break during busy desk work. Made from 100% natural and sustainable materials, these candles are handcrafted in Shiga Prefecture by Daiyo, a family-run maker with over a century of history.

Japanese candles are fully handmade, produce very little smoke, and burn with a larger, brighter flame than modern paraffin candles.
