A beautiful Japanese washi paper stationery box set featuring two sets of chigiri tear-off writing paper and envelopes, all made from traditional handmade washi paper by a washi paper maker in Saga Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan, with a history of over 300 years.
Chigiri means “tear-off.” The writing paper is folded and connected in an accordion-style format, allowing you to tear off individual sheets as needed. The writing paper comes in two different sizes, medium and small, and can be used with a fountain pen, brush pen, or ballpoint pen.
The envelopes feature five different local plants delicately embedded in the special washi paper: igusa (rush), momiji (Japanese maple), nanohana (rapeseed flower), benibana (safflower), and ajisai (hydrangea).

The maker Nao Washi Paper with over 300 years of history in washi paper making, discovers new values in washi paper that fits in today's life styles by "recrafting" techniques and knowledges that have been passed down as traditions just as the characteristics of the washi paper.
Nao Washi Paper is a handmade washi paper studio in Nao, Saga prefecture in Kyushu that does all the procedures required for paper making, from growing mulberry trees -one of the materials for making washi paper.
