Pickup currently unavailable
Sasano ittobori, literally "one-knife carving," is a folk art of Yamagata prefecture in Tohoku region of Japan. It is a wooden figure carved with a single blade called sarukuri, a specialty of the Sasano area in Yamagata handcrafted by skilled artisans.
Sasano ittobori figures are most commonly painted with colors showing the birds' details, however this solid blue eagle has been dyed with aizome Japanese indigo - a contemporary take on the traditional folk art.
Variation is expected due to the handmade nature of these items. Each item is beautifully unique.
This listing is for indigo blue, also available in black and white.
