kijinokanosei is a Japanese textile brand launched in the fall of 2022. This project is dedicated to exploring and reviving the history and techniques rooted in Bishu in Aichi Prefecture, a region recognized as one of the world’s three major woolen textile production areas alongside Huddersfield in England and Biella in Italy. Collaborating closely with local manufacturers and artisans, the brand seeks to recreate textiles of the past while focusing on women’s wear and interior items.
True to its name, kijinokanosei, which translates to "potentialities/possibilities of textiles," the project is driven by a passion for reviving Japan’s traditional fabrics. The brand pursues the "potential of the fabric itself" in the process of creating new textiles, as well as the broader "possibilities of craftsmanship" that emerge from it. Each piece is carefully crafted in domestic factories, with artisans thoughtfully designing the textile structures to reveal the unique character and rich expressions of these fabrics.
