Moe Watanabe Akebi Musubi Decoration [E]
Handwoven decorations created by a young Japanese crafter/artist Moe Watanabe using the materials she collected from the mountain herself. The material used for these beauties are dried vines of Akebi or Akebia which is a plant that grows wild in many Japanese mountains and it has been a popular material to make handwoven baskets in northern Japan although there are fewer artisans left today.
These are created with inspirations from the Japanese traditional musubi knots or ties techniques.
Moe while living in the country where she went to university she was introduced to many older people who were making everyday handcrafts using natural materials sourced locally and using traditional techniques and that inspired her to start going into the mountains to find materials to make crafts, mostly akebia vines and walnut tree barks.
Due to the nature of handmade products and the natural material, please expect slight variations to the product images displayed.
