"Sen" Line Indigo Dye Earrings
Simple and beautiful natural fiber earrings dyed with natural indigo grown in Yamagata. These earrings are handcrafted by Yuikoubou who creates textile using natural fibers from scratch and they do most necessary things for it themselves such as collecting materials, spinning yarn, extracting and applying natural dyes and handweaving. All natural materials used for these earrings are grown in Miyagi and Yamagata prefecture where the products are also made.
"Sen" earrings are made with aoso* (ramie) fibers and dyed with natural indigo extracted by the maker from the locally grown indigo plants. Sen means Lines in Japanese and the thin long bundles of natural fibers swing nicely around your ears.
Hooks used for these earrings are made of the ceramics, allergy-free material that is used in the medical purposes.
*Aoso or blue ramie is a fabric similar to linen, also called Karamushi in Japanese and it's made from a plant in the nettle family which is now becoming a rare textile material today. The white fibers of the stem are strong and beautiful and they have been long used as a material for high quality textiles since the ancient times in Japan and Yamagata prefecture is one of the main areas that this plant grows widely.
Due to the nature of handmade products, please expect slight variations to the product images displayed. Currently these earrings tend to be slightly bigger than the first lot (measurements have been edited).
