Handwoven rattan trivets/table mats created by a young Japanese crafter/artist Moe Watanabe. They would make great wall decorations too. The one shown in the first image is how it will age and the colour gets darker as you use it.

Moe while living in the country where she went to university she was introduced to many older people who were making everyday handcrafts using natural materials sourced locally and using traditional techniques and that inspired her to start going into the mountains to find materials to make crafts, mostly akebia vines and walnut tree barks.

Rattan is a new material Moe experiments with, which is not something she obtains herself from nature but it gives a new look that shows lightness in the weaving patterns she creates based on the Japanese traditional tying 'musubi' techniques.

Please expect slight variation to each product as all are handmade using natural material.
